when you come to the end of your rope....

"when you come to the end of your rope - tie a knot and hang on"  Franklin D. Roosevelt

I thought i'd share this card i've made for Deb's November challenge, which is to create a beautiful & whimsical card with a tough of the colour green on it. I've used what I have decided is the cutest of The Emerald Faeries Collection - the Larakins - Ashton & Boo - with a bit of lace added. I've used about 3 layers of serviette pp and loads of glue for the georgeous bush background. The (top) rope is made of embroidery thread and the (bottom) one is a Kaszazz stamp. The flowers, leaf and glitters are all from my stash.
"Ashton & Boo" are looking so mischevious and obviously have tied more than just 1 knot ! {hugz}

1970's

Ah yes those years I do remember : platform shoes, bellbottoms, disco, bright blue eye shadow, long skirts...and I do have 2 Lo's from the 1970's for you today, I decided on this era, due to the challenge on Pages In Time (vintage photos = older than 30 years + new papers). I must admit I had a laugh because I've never been called 'vintage' before LOL!!!
Firstly in "LoNg drivE" I have used the latest Echo Park "boy" collection for the background, the tree is cutalicious and covered with Croco crackling. Ive used Doilies from Scrapping OUtback. The cute owl is handmade by Deb of Deb's Creations, and the cute little bloom button is from American Crafts. The photo was taken during a tea break on a long drive in our tiny Humber 80 car. I've also entered this LO in  the November Sketch Challenge  by Guest Designer Melinda Spinks at Handmade by Suzanne as well as the White with One November Challenge  (yellow & journalling directly onto LO).
Journal reads "Tokoroa Park, circa 1972. Visiting Uncle Ian & cousins in Tokoroa, NZ. I remember the day because we had a very tiring long drive and we had to have our photo taken. That's me in the 'red' age 12.5 and I loved that outfit to bits - it was the trend of the day - flared sleeves and flared trews. Also the jandals on my feet LOL. 7 people in a small humber 80 in 1972 was squashy, so we took a break from the LoNg drivE".  TFL :)

Second "beach" circa 1972.

That's my mum, 3 sisters , my brother and I (screwed up nose) posing for a photo on the beach, probably Cheltenam on the North Shore in Auckland. we used to go there for Sunday drives...but if anyone can confirm the beach you would be most welcome to correct me LOL  The LO was a class I did with my friend Geli and I just love the design...note the 'peace sign' made out of felt :)  I just love these "bright 1970's" pps and flowers from the Prima Paisley Road collection, I bt from Scrapping Outback within the DT November kit. The circle calendar and jnl tags are stamped with brilliance inks and cutout. oh yes dont mention the machine sewing and please dont expect it again anytime soon LOL.  TFL. happy weekend everyone :)

5 Generations (priceless memories)

YES! as promised I do have LO for you today, I've just finished it after procrastinating on this one for a few weeks. This LO was originally designed by my friend Geli for class early November. I have adapted it slightly as you will see from the link. The photos were taken around the 14th May 2004 just after my first GD was born and we had a family gathering to celebrate my meeting her. My darling grandma was still alive then, so we were so fortunate to have these pics of the "5 generations"..i love the photos - and these pics are truly priceless treasures for me. I'm entering this into the challenge at Southern Girls as you can see I have used my fave colour, orange the colour of compassion...you can see it's a real "me colour".. dont forget the 'Wicked Wonderland CyberCrop' is on at Scrapping Outback this weekend too...starts at 7pm Brisbane time...Although I'm 'otherwise committed' tonight, I will be popping in to SO over the weekend to see what the crop is all about. enjoy your (Black in the USA) Friday and hope to catch up over the w/e. TFL :)

Swaps

today I thought I'd let you have a sneak peek of the tags I've made for 2 (out of 3) swaps I'm taking part in at the moment. The 4 yellow tags are 'part' of the yellow swap at Deb's Creations...in case you dont know how they work, I should receive 4 yellow embellishments in return some time early December.

Photobucket
The Christmas tag is for the November tag swap at Pages In Time...this tag is doubling for the "Nutcracker Christmas Inking Challenge, also at Pages In Time...so since the Christmas tag is being posted to the USA and the yellow tags are being posted to Western Australia, I thought I'd better get them in the mail this week - to allow for the Christmas postal delay. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have at least 1 LO to share...happy scrappin'  Tuesday xxx

U2 on One Tree Hill

I've just come back from a lovely weekend away on the Sunshine Coast :) DH & I stayed in a tourist cabin at Alexandra Heads and the weather was shocking, but it really didnt matter coz we had a great time doin' "nothing much at all" LOL...we walked for ages under the cover of shops along the boardwalk of the beach, had breakkie in a yummy cafe (bit exy but who cares if your on holiday) and we even caught up with an ex work colleague who now lives up that way...visited more friends on the way home and we both agreed it was just not long enough what the doctor ordered !! This LO, was finished last week, thanks to the inspiration of Geli...the LO title was inspired by the song "One Tree Hill" by one of my fave groups U2...the photo is of my GD's playing on One Tree Hill - with the wonderful view out to Rangitoto Island in the Waitemata Harbour in Auckland, NZ. (ah the memories !)
I do hope you all have a great week - mine's looking pretty busy, trying to get some 'swaps' and 'challenges' finished before the end of the month :)

Growing Up ( & baby born)

THIRD TIME LUCKY ? My apologies anyone who has previous links to this post...I obviously have something wrong coz this is the third time I've tried to post this...for some reason when I've gone to 'preview' the post has been deleting..I have no idea why and I'm pretty p'd off to say the least LOL The LO is of my younger GD's 3rd birthday pressie...a baby born doll that has diving gear, similar to Shyla's own snorkle and mask :) I've used AdornIt Coralee's Creations pp (princess range); the acrylic cupcakes are covered with Alison Ellis glitter; and the chippie is from Scrapping Outback; The bottlecap was inspired by a tute over at Scraps of Darkness - I simply filled up the bottle cap with dimentional magic after adding the wee embellies and left it for 24 hours to dry :) The pic of me was taken by DH while I was in the garden last Sunday afternoon, which is when I first posted this (believe it or not !!); I'm entering this LO into 2 challenges...
1: sketch#62 @ Let's Capture these sketches
2: sketch#213 @ Pencil Lines

Enjoy and I hope you're having a better/easier time with technology than I am LOL

a CUTE giveaway and H'Mong Village LO

Purple Pumpkin is having a really cute giveaway, just look at those on the right :)  I've just bt some of their gorgeous embellies so I'm lookin' forward to sharing them with you too - all you need to do to win some of these beauties is click on the words Purple Pumpkin !!!....meantime here's a LO of one of the most beautiful places we stayed at in Thailand, in December 2008. H'mong Village - incredibly rich people even tho they're poor financially. Thanks once again to Geli  for her (as always) inspiration on this one ! As I used the Prima pp for the background, I've submitted this also at Scrapping OutbackAlicia's November DT kit challenge. We walked the H'mong village and met many of the villagers, selling their handicraft. We then watched some of the villagers perform as we ate their yummy food...more about that in a later LO!!

My fairy

Your fairy is called Columbine Goblinglitter
She is a bringer of riches and wealth.
She lives in mushroom fields and quiet meadows.
She is only seen in the light of a shooting star.
She wears lilac and purple like columbine flowers. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.
